Cockroach Fight

Last night had a fight with a big cockroach at home. I am that type of person will run away when saw a cockroach, especially the male cockroach. Do you have experience cockroach flied to you and crawled on your body? Disgusting I tell you!

The cockroach was behind the curtain when I spotted him, yes... big male cockroach. We tried to spray him with magicclean cos no insecticide at home. He flied from living room to kitchen!! As he flied from place to place, we screamed, ran and jumped around. John saw our behaviour, he screamed and cried too. From his cry, I can tell that he was frightened.

Well, I am pretty sure John was not frightened by the cockroach. He was terrified seeing our weird behaviours and not knowing how to react. Thus, he acted as what we did. This is called - social referencing (still remember what I learned... not too bad :D). Poor John, he had nightmares last night, cried and called out for mama. Alright John, mama will try to remain calm next time.

The stupid cockroach still hiding somewhere in the kitchen... gonna kill him with insecticide!!

Lydia,

You know me and my husband have tried so many ways in killing roaches in our house. We just dont understand why this notty fella likes to crawl around in our kitchen.

Anyway, finally we found few ways. You may give a try:
1) Put pandan leaves in the areas that you suspected they will appear. (have to change it few days time in order the pandan aroma remains)

2) My fren (Mommy Gwen, not sure you know her)...mixed equal amount of baking soda and fine sugar(Powder form)in containers.

Besides, I also heard from my Multiply friends that roaches are afraid of any type of liquid that will generate bubbles. For eg, shampoo. So once you see them, squeeze on them. They will die on the spot.

But me and my husband normally will use a very cruel way, but trust me...they will surely die!
POUR VERY HOT WATER on them.

So good luck in killing these fellas!

reanaclaire,
Female cockroaches are smaller in size and fatter with bigger abdomen. Males are thinner, but bigger in size. Or you just try to hit it see it flies or not... :D

Joanne,
Actually it was the first time we found cockroach inside the house after living here for about 8 months. Last time in Kampar, wah... can't stand it!! Almost every morning can find dead bodies in the kitchen/toilet. T bought cockroach poison from Japan, and he placed it at all corners in the house.

I know the pandan leaves matter, but dont like the smell when whole bunch of pandan leaves in the house. Baking soda method sounds good... maybe I should put it outside the apartment. Surely John will play with it if he saw it!
