Tak's Birthday

This photo was taken on the 17th Oct 2005 at Yukis at the Quay. It is located at The Rocks, near the Circular Quay with Sydney habour view. Both of us were a bit tipsy that night, I had a glass of redwine while Tak had hot sake and beer. I still remember it was cold night... brrr.

We ordered Wagyu Beef Shabushabu, something like steamboat but it comes in a paper "pot". I find it interesting, quickly snapped a photo. I heard of this paper hot pot thing before but have not actually tasted it until that day. The main ingredient of this dish is thinly sliced wagyu beef, I love it with sesame sauce.

I still remember the joke of the day by a waitress there when Tak was checking the price for abalone sashimi. We saw a price for abalone sashimi on the menu is about Au$15 per 100gm, so Tak asked the waitress how much would it cost for an abalone. The waitress checked with the chef and told us it would be 300. So... Tak and I were thinking "wow, it must be a very big abalone." And the waitress was telling us we can have 2 cookings for 1 abalone it made me more convinced that it would be a big abalone. We decided to have sashimi and grilled, and I told Tak not to order too many dishes first, let see how big is the abalone. During the waiting time, I was imaging the size of abalone. I started to think how big packet is a 2kgs pack of sugar. Hm... very big abalone! I told Tak might be the shell is very heavy. When the dishes came... both of us was laughing out loud. The abalone was 300gm about a fist size, not AU$300!
